![]() ĪITHOUSA (Aethusa) A nymph of Boiotia (central Greece) who was loved by Apollon. THALEIA (Thalia) One of the nine Mousai (Muses) who, according to some, was the mother of the Korbyantes by Apollon. OURANIA (Urania) One of the nine Mousai (Muses) who, according to some, was the mother of Linos by Apollon (though, some say his mother was the Mousa Kalliope). MOUSAI (Muses) Apollon was said to have loved all nine Mousai, and not being able to marry all nine, chose to remain unwed. KALLIOPE (Calliope) One of the nine Mousai (Muses) who was, according to some, the mother by Apollon of the bards Orpheus and Linos (most, however, say their father was the Pierian King Oiagros). She declined both and petitioned Zeus to allow her to remain an eternal virgin. HESTIA The goddess of the hearth, was wooed by Apollon and Poseidon, who both sought to hand in marriage. (Skylla was usually called a daughter of the sea-gods Phorkys and Keto). HEKATE (Hecate) The goddess of witchcraft was, according to one unusual account, the mother of the sea-monster Skylla by Apollon. The stories of Apollo's lovers Daphne and Kyrene can be found on their own separate pages-see the Apollo pages sidebar. The most celebrated of his loves were the nymph Daphne, princess Koronis (Coronis), huntress Kyrene (Cyrene) and youth Hyakinthos (Hyacinthus). Many of these, however, appear only in the ancient genealogies with no accompanying story. In Xenon the enemies come down in patterns like the very old arcade Shmups, i'm fairly certain that this game was way more random and that enemy movement seemed more natural. I feel like the title screen was very close to something like this, with lots of "Orb" buttons on the menu etc.Īnother thing, the gameplay was a little more complicated than this. In fact, I'm pretty sure the soundtrack for the game sounded almost exactly like this but a more updated darker version: Īs far as the graphics, my game is definitely newer than that, no later than 2008 though because thats when I graduated highschool. No guitars, or people talking, no hip-hop or rock music. Okay, so I see what you mean about memorable music, but the music in my game was much more atmospheric, a lot of synth. ![]() Very memorable music, lots of (greyish) purple and red in the colour palette, upgrades shop in between levels. This might be a bit older than you've suggested but is it Xenon or Xenon 2? I've searched multiple databases and watched hours of youtube videos, now I'm coming to you guys to see if anyone else played the game and remembers it. I wanna say that they shot out big orbs that spun or something like that. ![]() from what I remember you fought aliens, or some sort of hybrid of ships infected with aliens. Gameplay: I'm pretty sure that you could get upgrades between levels. The music and sound FX were not like from an arcade or retro console, they were more up to date and very well done. Sound: This is what really sticks out, I can almost hear the music now. Graphics: Pretty sure these were 2D but not super old school, I want to say it had side borders with info displayed there, on the left were different orbs that showed the weapons you could use or something like that. Type: I honestly can't remember wether it was vertical or horizontal, I'm leaning more toward vertical. But it could have also come on a demo disc that came with an actual game that I bought like Age of Empires or something. ![]() Tyrian 2000 left stuck Pc#Source: I want to say it was a demo of some sort, I feel like it was on one of those you could get from staples that came with like 100 PC game demos. Possible timeframe: 2000-2006 (I know that's huge, but I'm still working on it) Hey guys, I'm new here, just joined the forum in search of an Old Shmup. ![]()
